What a warm and sunny start to the week and it looks like the sunshine may be around for a few more days which will be good – it is June after all! Not only is the weather nice for me and my fellow CEO colleagues who are outdoors most of the day, but it’s also a big help to my colleagues in the NEPP’s Technical Team who have seasonal tasks which they can only get on with when the roads are dry and free from salt. One of these jobs is line painting which is usually restricted to between the months of April and October when the roads are dry and the hot thermoplastic paint which they use will stick to the roads.
Although some roads can be dry outside of these months, Essex County Council’s seasonal gritting works mean that the salt they apply to the highways prevents the paint from sticking and it would be a waste of resources to carry out lining works at these times of year.
Below are some pictures of an area before and after our Technical Team had carried out lining works, which shows what a great job they do.
