I’m super excited today as the public vote has now opened for the Digital Awards Champions – and you can vote for this blog to win!

I was over the moon when my blog won the Gold Award at the Essex Digital Awards in the Business Blog category back in April. Everyone here at the NEPP was so pleased to hear how impressed the judges were with this blog and how it manages to make a difficult subject fun, engaging and understandable.

All the Gold Award winners from the Digital Award Schemes 2016 are now in the running to be overall Champion for their category. Your votes will now choose an overall Champion for each category from the awards that have taken place in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Milton Keynes and Surrey.

I’m so pleased that our customers are finding this blog useful and I would like to ask you to cast your vote for this blog. To vote, simply go to www.thedigitalawards.co/champions/blog-business, select North Essex Parking Partnership (Essex) and click the ‘submit vote’ button. The vote will close at 5pm on 20 January 2017.

Happy voting and fingers crossed!

We’ve got the Golden ticket!

I’m over the moon today and delighted to say that this very blog won the Gold Award at the Essex Digital Awards in the Business Blog category last night.

Everyone here at the NEPP is so pleased and it was great to hear the judges comments about how impressed they were with this blog and how it manages to make a difficult subject fun, engaging and understandable.

The level of entries was outstanding and we were up against some tough competition so we were thrilled to win.

We also found out last night that as a Gold Award winner we are in the running to be the overall Champion for the category for all the Digital Award Schemes where there will be a public vote to choose an overall Champion for each category from the awards that take place in from Cambridgeshire, Essex Hertfordshire, Kent, Milton Keynes and Surrey.

We had a fantastic evening and it was great to be there and celebrate with my colleagues from the NEPP who provide a lot of support for this blog.

I’m so pleased that our customers are finding this blog useful and I look forward to posting further updates on what is now our award-winning blog!

I’ll be back blogging next week but for now, have a lovely weekend.

From a very happy Anna Tendant!

EDA 2016 Finalists

There have been lots of awards taking place in recent weeks with the Oscars, the BAFTAs and the Brit Awards to name a few, but I was in for a pleasant surprise this week when I came back to work yesterday and found out that this blog has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Business Blog category of the Essex Digital Awards! I’m so pleased.

When I started this blog back in January last year I had no idea how popular it would become and didn’t expect the number of views or great feedback that it’s had. I really hope that you all find this blog interesting and useful and I’m looking forward to finding out the results at the awards on 14th April. Well done to all the other finalists and fellow bloggers!

You may remember that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that NEPP has been shortlisted for Parking Team of the Year at the British Parking Awards and some of my colleagues are heading to those awards on Friday so I’d like to wish them and all the other finalists the best of luck.

Tis the season to be…

…spending time with friends and family. With Christmas next week I’m sure many of you have plans to visit or will be visited by your friends and families over the festive period. For me spending time with your loved ones and getting everyone together is one of the highlights of Christmas.

Residential Street

For those of you visiting friends and family who live in a residents parking zone and are planning to drive there you will need a visitors parking permit (if you’re unable to park your vehicle outside of that zone). Residents who live in these zones can buy virtual visitor permits via the MiPermit system or may have paper visitor permits which their visitors can display in their windscreens. Residents choosing to buy the virtual permits over paper permits will save money too with 10 virtual visitor permits costing £10 as opposed to 10 paper visitor permits costing £15.

Visitor permits can be bought by residents via their MiPermit accounts or by ringing the NEPP office on 01206 282316. If residents who live in these areas aren’t sure how many visitor permits they’ll need over the Christmas and New Year period, I would suggest it’s better to have too many than too few as not being able to obtain a visitor permit or running out of visitor permits are not valid reasons for cancelling Penalty Charge Notices, plus, unused visitor permits don’t have an expiry date so they can be used in the future.

Most of the residents parking schemes across North Essex are located in built-up areas where there are often car parks nearby should visitors wish to park there instead. Car parks across North Essex which are managed by the NEPP are free of charge on Christmas Day and most have some great parking deals on over the winter months too.

If you have any queries about parking permits, please visit our website or contact my colleagues by emailing parking@colchester.gov.uk or phoning 01206 282316, who will be happy to help.

Let’s get digital, digital!

Customer using mobile phone

This week it’s national ‘Get Online Week’ and there are lots of activities taking place across the country to encourage people to go online and to help them use online and digital services.

As part of this national event, some of my colleagues will be on hand in St Mary’s multi-storey car park in Colchester this week to show customers how easy it is to use our cashless parking payment system (MiPermit) and to answer any questions or concerns they may have about using it. Friendly CEOs like myself, will be on hand at the car park today, tomorrow and Saturday helping customers to register and use MiPermit. We’ll also be explaining how customers can top-up their parking while in town, receive a reminder about parking stays and manage an online account.

If this week’s activity in Colchester proves to be a success, the NEPP is keen to roll out the activity in the other areas of north Essex.

Other digital parking-related activity taking place this week is that staff from local organisations such as Essex County Council will be available in Colchester to talk to customers about applying for, renewing and paying for a blue badge online. Online blue badge assistance is available at Colchester Library and Community Hub today 10.00 – 16.00 and at the Crown Post Office, Head Street, Colchester tomorrow (Friday 16 October) 10.00 – 16.00.

If you’re reading this blog, then you’re probably familiar with using the internet, however if you’d like some assistance or advice about using MiPermit or blue badges or know a friend, family member or neighbour who might benefit, then please let them know about the activities that are taking place as we’re always keen to help our customers.

Enjoy the rest of Get Online Week!
