Join me and be a parking hero

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted on here, but today I’m really excited and wanted to share this video we’ve created about my role as a Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) – and I got to star in it as well!

So many of you seem to have enjoyed hearing about my job over the last year and I really enjoy my role as a CEO. It gives me plenty of exercise as I’m out and about patrolling my area (although sometimes I use the car as well). I get to talk to local people and visitors, answering general enquiries or providing directions on where to park. When I see someone parking illegally I do need to issue a Penalty Charge Notice, but that’s not what I do all day.

When posts come up, we recruit across Braintree, Colchester, Epping Forest, Harlow, Tendring and Uttlesford. It can cause a little confusion, but you need to apply through Colchester Borough Council for any of these areas. You can sign up to the ‘Working for the Council’ e-newsletter to get regular updates on jobs within the North Essex Parking Partnership.

I hope that I’ve inspired some of you to apply for a job as a Civil Enforcement Officer and maybe I’ll be working with you in the future.

Would you enjoy working outdoors?

West Mersea, Essex

    West Mersea, Essex

With a mini heatwave predicted for the week ahead, I expect the roads and car parks will be busy with people wanting to get out and about and make the most of the lovely summer weather whilst it lasts! I’m sure the coast will be busy this week and today sees the start of the two week-long Summer Screen in Colchester Castle Park which I’m sure will attract a big crowd, especially with the live Wimbledon matches being shown. What great weather for it!

Whilst I’m working all week, I’ll still be able to enjoy the sunny weather as I’ll be out patrolling every day this week and being outdoors is something I really love about my job – I just need to make sure I apply my sun screen regularly! We have lots of beautiful places in north Essex, including the coast, parks, countryside and vibrant town centres, all of which I get to work in and enjoy as part of my job as a Civil Enforcement Officer.

If like me, you enjoy the outdoors and fancy a job which means you get to spend your working day outside, then check out some of the permanent Civil Enforcement Officer jobs we’re currently advertising.

We’re Hiring!

I write a lot about my job as a Civil Enforcement Officer on this blog and I think it’s obvious to anyone reading this, that I really do enjoy my job. I love working outdoors, being physically active all day (I’ve already walked a couple of miles this morning) and I really enjoy talking to and being able to help the public. I also like the fact that I know that my job does help the local area and people by keeping the roads free from congestion and safe for everyone to use.

The NEPP is currently advertising permanent Civil Enforcement Officer vacancies in Harlow and Braintree. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, you can find out more and apply here.
